Hit and Run Suspect in Elkhart makes first appearance in court

The man accused of killing a teenager and injuring another in Elkhart in a hit and run has had his initial hearing. 34 year old Ronnie Hapner appeared in county for the first time on Thursday and was given a trial date of Nov. 15th. He also entered into a guilty plea on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and leaving the scene of an injury.

18 year old Blaine Fisher was killed on Greenleaf Blvd. June 4th as he and McKade Nielsen where riding down the street. HE will also remain in jail for an indefinite amount of time. He was on probation at the time of the crash.

The Elkhart Truth reports that after the accident instead of calling police or turning himself in, he cleaned his garage to make space to hide his truck.
