It’s believed multiple weapons were discharged, according to investigators.

At 9 a.m. the entrances to Heritage Square off of Gumwood Road were still blocked by police tape and a large police presence was still on scene.

Several evidence markers were visibly placed in the parking lots adjacent to Gumwood Road.

Traffic was able to get through Main Street/Gumwood Road and State Road 23/Cleveland Road without any restrictions by mid-morning.

The entrances to Heritage Square off of State Road 23/Cleveland Road were open for shoppers.

There was no immediate word about what led to the shooting or any suspects or arrests.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit released the following information:

This morning at approximately 4:00 am, CMHU was called by dispatch to investigate a shooting at Heritage Square in Granger. A bar in the complex was the setting for an advertised party that drew a very large crowd. Upon arrival officers learned that multiple people had been shot.  Five people were confirmed hit by gunfire. Four sustained non-life threatening injuries and one person was killed. There is evidence that suggests multiple weapons were discharged in the area resulting in a large crime scene.  The family has been notified and the victim is Victor Anthwan Kyle, Jr., 26.

The shooting at Heritage Square is one of two shooting investigations Metro Homicide was leading on Sunday. The other shooting, said to be unrelated, took place around 5 a.m. at Elwood Avenue and Olive Street in South Bend.
