In his first start for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Jack Coan threw for 366 yards and four touchdowns as the Irish go on the road and defeat Florida State 41-38 in overtime.
After Seminole kicker Ryan Fitzgerald missed a 37-yard field goal in overtime, Notre Dame kicker, Jonathan Doerer, sent a 41-yard field goal threw the uprights to send the Irish back to South Bend with a win.
The two teams combined for 36 first downs and 873 yards of total offense.
Michael Mayer, Joe Wilkins, Jr., Kevin Austin, Jr., and Kyren Williams each hauled in a touchdown catch. Chris Tyree also found the endzone on a rushing touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball Isaiah Foskey had a big game, recording career highs in tackles (8), tackles for loss (2.0) and sacks (2.0). JD Bertrand led the defense with a career high 11 tackles in his first career start.
The secondary forced three interceptions, with Kyle Hamilton picking off two passes and Clarence Lewis recording the first interception of his career.
Up next, the Irish will return home for their home opener against Toledo, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 11.
