Child neglect charges dropped against Justin Miller

The man charged with murder in connection with the death of 11-month-old Mercedes Lain has had the child neglect charge against him dropped.

Justin Miller was originally charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death in Marshall County, but that charge was dropped, earlier this week.

Miller, instead, faces the murder charge after leading police to Lain’s body in a wooded area in Starke County.

He was reported to be babysitting Lain, at the request of her parents, at the time of her death.

The autopsy showed Lain due to blunt force trauma.

Miller remains in the Starke County Jail.
