A woman was injured in an Elkhart County crash that police are blaming on a cigarette.
A patrol officer says that a 57 year-old California man driving a semi was distracted by a cigarette and rear-ended a 20 year-old South Bend woman who had slowed down for traffic in her Ford Explorer.
The crash happened on US 20 about 2.5 miles east of Elkhart just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman was taken to Memorial Hospital complaining of leg and neck pain. The semi driver was uninjured and cited for following too closely.
