A man in Elkhart is suspected of shooting a person in the head and then leaving his body in a burning car in Michigan.

Police believe that 37-year-old Austin Bowlin is responsible for the March 2020 murder of 32-year-old Jeffrey Crapo.

Authorities found Crapo’s body in Sandstone Township, Michigan after fire crews responded to a call of a car engulfed in flames.

Investigators say they believe the murder took place in Elkhart after learning Bowlin and Crapo were at an area hotel that day.

Bowlin allegedly was seen shooting Crapo several times.

The Elkhart Truth reports Bowlin then moved Crapo’s body to the back seat of his car and drove around Indiana and Michigan for several days.

Bowlin then drove the car to a remote part of Jackson, Michigan, parked the car and lit it on fire.
