The inaugural Elkhart River Challenge will launch on Saturday, October 2.

It’s a17-mile kayak race from Goshen to Elkhart along the Elkhart River. Paddles go into the water at 8:00 a.m.

The event is organized by LaCasa. The winner with the fastest time will win $2,000, as the event brings attention to the quality of life in Elkhart County.

All race finishers will be entered in a drawing for $500.

The Elkhart River Challenge is the first competitive event on the Elkhart River in over 20 years.

There is also a shorter “parade float” from Studebaker Park to Island Park in Elkhart, which will take less than an hour to complete.

The events are open to the public. Those who are interested can learn more in the link here.
