Indiana’s unemployment rate at 4.0%

Indiana’s unemployment rate stands at 4.0 percent for September, and the national rate is 4.8 percent.

Indiana’s total labor force, which includes both Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, stands at 3.34 million, and the state’s 63.0 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 61.6 percent.

We’ll get details about the local unemployment rates for St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties this week.

Remember, once you exhaust your benefits you are no longer considered “unemployed”, even if you are still not working.

We should measure “employment rate” instead.
