The Berrien County Election Commission has rejected recall language that was submitted against Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad.

Monday, the commission met to consider the language that was filed by resident Quacy Roberts, which stated the mayor failed to notify the residents of the city that the water was contaminated with lead.

Documents that were submitted by the mayor’s office convinced the commission that the recall language lacked credibility. The Mayor and City Commissioners have publicly told residents about the contamination issues on a number of occasions since 2018 while efforts have been underway to replace them.
