The Goshen Fire Department has been around for 159 years and has never had a female firefighter.

The department hired it’s first two female firefighters this week. Megan Berry and Hannah Estes are each going through training right now.

Fire chief Dan Sink, who’s been with the department for 40 years, told WSBT that he didn’t hire them just because they were women.

He says both came very highly recommended for the job. But, he hopes that the pair will be able to open the door for more women to become firefighters in the future.
