Middlebury man arrested after allegedly stealing and drinking beers

Police in Elkhart County arrested a man Tuesday afternoon at a Middlebury convenience store for theft and public intoxication, but there’s more to it than that.

Officials say 22 year-old Carlos Rodriguez was taken into custody around noon at the Snappy Food Mart on S.R. 13 in Middlebury, where he supposedly drank 28 beers while inside the store without paying for any of them.

Before the Middlebury man was booked on the charges, he was taken to Elkhart General for medical clearance.
