Two people were arrested and a machine gun was recovered in South Bend.
It was around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, the South bend Police Strategic Focus Unit was in the area of Manchester Drive and Voll Lane when officers heard a series of apparent automatic gunfire.
Then, officers saw an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed on Manchester.
Police stopped the vehicle on Hickory Rod and detained the occupants, Nyla Timmons, 21, and Jacob Pittman, 21.
Once armed with a search warrant for the vehicle, officers recovered the machine gun, extended magazine and marijuana.

“machine gun”
Full auto weapons have been illegal to manufacture since the 1986. I doubt those two knuckleheads have the $$$ needed to buy one, since they are at LEAST $50k now.
Also, a 30 round magazine is a STANDARD magazine for the most common rifle in America. What qualifies as an “extended” magazine, exactly?
There’s a decent amount of black market machine gun manufacture going on in the drug world. Is what it is. I would still repeal the NFA but with how little information is in this article I can concede there’s a chance it wasn’t automatic though I’m still leaning on believing it was. It’s rather easy to convert an AR-15 to automatic fire assuming you have the correct lower receiver and they just busted a guy in Indiana last year for manufacturing TONS of automatic AR’s
Yeah, I guess it could be a “broken” seer or the coat hanger trick.
Ok it was just a big gun. Now are you happy
I don’t think the manufacturing of them is illegal. It’s not illegal to own one either. However, it is very expensive to purchase one and the licenses and background checks and probably annual repeat of all checks and expenses makes it wildly costly. It’s also possible it was a full auto weapon such as an AK47 but the full auto disabled.
C’mon Charles. You don’t expect reporters to be knowledgeable and accurate, do you?
It was most likely Glock handgun with a switch to convert to full automatic and a extended magazine
