Man dies after apparent accidental shooting on West Elwood in South Bend

South Bend Police are investigating a shooting they say appears to be accidental.

Officers were called around 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, to the 1300 block of West Elwood on the report of an shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, suffering an apparent accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

There was no immediate word about the circumstances that led to the shooting.
