The Elkhart Common Council has passed resolutions that oppose legislation in the State House.

There were two resolutions passed by the council on Monday, the first of which opposing a House Bill that would lower a number of business taxes. WVPE reports that Council members raised concerns that the change in law could have a negative impact of $3 million on the city’s budget. The resolution urges legislators to provide for that lost revenue.

The council also passed a resolution opposing a House Bill that requires teachers to post all lesson plans online before the start of the school year. Several teachers spoke against the bill at Monday night’s Council meeting, saying it’s meant to control what they’re allowed to teach their students
