SBMF looks to Notre Dame family to help fight blood shortage

(Tom Franklin/95.3 MNC)

The South Bend Medical Foundation is appealing to Notre Dame to help respond to a blood shortage.

The American Red Cross has declared that the U.S. is currently in its worst blood shortage in over a decade.

The Notre Dame Observer reports that the South Bend Medical Foundation considers the Notre Dame family a reliable source for donors, at a time when most previous donors cannot be counted on to help boost the blood supply due to COVID and other considerations.

The Tri-Campus community is planning blood drives in April at St. Mary’s and Holy Cross, and anyone interested in helping to partner with the Foundation should contact the South Bend Medical Foundation.
