Unemployment rate goes up, locally, while statewide rate drops

The unemployment rate in both St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties went up a bit in February, as the state’s unemployment rate dropped, as a whole.

In St. Joseph County it went from 2.6 percent to 2.9 percent.

In Elkhart County, it was up one-tenth of a point to 1.7 percent.

In all, the state’s jobless rate was at 2.3 percent for February.
