Michigan homebuilders, suppliers struggle to keep up with demand

(Pixabay)

As the demand for new homes becomes greater in Michigan, the same can be said for builder costs and prices.

April lumber prices are expected to climb after a decline had been expected, but a major Canadian sawmill is shutting down for a month to deal with their own supply chain issues.

The global chip shortage has created problems for appliances with electronic elements. And Bridge Michigan reports that across The Great Lakes State there are record low numbers of existing homes listed for sale.

Builders and suppliers are expecting hiring shortages, price pressure, and market uncertainty as they prepare for a wave of buyer demand in the next few months.
