14-year-old killed, four juveniles injured, crash in LaPorte County

A 14-year-old was killed and four other juveniles were injured during an off-road vehicle crash in LaPorte County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, to the 9400 block of North 500 East. 

The initial investigation indicates the operator of the side-by-side vehicle lost control when trying to turn at a high rate of speed. The vehicles then rolled.  

The 14-year-old died at the hospital. 

A 15-year-old was airlifted to a trauma center in Chicago. 

Three other juveniles suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. 

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
