A man in South Bend was arrested for allegedly stealing a cart full of items from a grocery store — and hitting an employee with the cart.

It happened on November 16, 2021. Police were called to a store on Portage Road on reports of an assault.

The victim told police that the man, 54-year-old Anthony Taylor, came into the employee-only area of a store.

That’s when she noticed that Taylor did not work for the store and tried to get him to leave.

ABC 57 News reports that Taylor then hit the employee with his cart full of merchandise and left the building.

Taylor was arrested on June 7 and charged with robbery.

His next court date is set for June 15.
