South Bend man sentenced in shooting death of teenager

19 year-old Jaylin Tucker of South Bend has been sentenced in the shooting death of one teenager and the non-fatal shooting of another.
Tucker was originally charged with Murder and Attempted Murder for the shooting that happened in May of 2020 in the 1100 block of East McKinley Avenue. Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from a fight.
A hung jury failed to reach a decision in the case in March of this year.
On May 19, Tucker admitted to killing 17 year-old Kelvin Stanford Jr and entered a plea of voluntary manslaughter.
A St. Joseph County judge has sentenced Tucker to 15 years for the manslaughter charge, and five years for attempted battery with a deadly weapon. The sentences will run concurrently.

St. Joseph County – Today, the Honorable Elizabeth C. Hurley sentenced Jaylin Tucker,
19, of South Bend to 15 years for his role in the death of Kelvin Stanford Jr., 17, of
Mishawaka and the non-fatal shooting of another juvenile.
Mr. Tucker was originally charged with Murder and Attempted Murder in the May 13,
2020, death of Mr. Stanford and the non-fatal shooting of another juvenile. On March 9,
2022, a jury was unable to come to a decision, resulting in a hung jury.
On May 19, 2022, Mr. Tucker admitted to killing Mr. Stanford under sudden heat and pled
guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter, a lesser included offense of Murder and a level 2
felony; and Attempted Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a lesser included offense of
Attempted Murder and a level 5 felony.
Judge Hurley sentenced Tucker to 15 years for Voluntary Manslaughter and five years for
Attempted Battery with a Deadly Weapon. The sentences are to run concurrently.

This article is claiming fake information, he didn’t get 20 years . Before you publish something do your research

He was sentenced to 15 years for one charge and 5 years for a second charge. The sentences are running concurrently, thus he’ll spend 15 years in prison, but he was sentenced to a total of 20 years. We’ve added the news release from the prosecutor’s office which breaks it down, if you’d like to read that.

20, 15, doesn’t matter since he’ll be out in 8 anyway…
