A traffic stop for a driving violation turned into a nearly 50 mile long pursuit for Goshen Police.
It happened around 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, when officers tried to stop the driver of a Ram 1500 pickup at Main and Madison Streets, but they say the driver, Chad Madison, of Goshen failed to stop.
The chase continued through three counties and, 47 miles later, Madison was taken into custody along U.S. 30 in Plymouth.
Police say Chad was found to be intoxicated after blowing .123 on a certified breath test.
Chad was taken to the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting, reckless driving and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
