Dowagiac man, 32, and 9-year-old girl hurt in crash in Cass County

A Dowagiac man had to be extricated from his vehicle after a collision in Cass County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, to the intersection of Dailey Road and Pokagon Highway where they found two vehicles off the side of the road.

The crash happened when the 32-year-old Dowagiac man stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded forward into the intersection, failing to yield and striking another vehicle, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man and a 9-year-old girl who was one of the passengers in his vehicle were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment of their injuries.

A 60-year-old Fort Wayne woman driving the other vehicle was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial hospital in Dowagiac for her injuries.
