Shorter days should inspire more alert driving

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is reminding Hoosiers to drive responsibly, especially at night.

The institute, which puts research and plans into action to reduce traffic crashes and related criminal activity through grants and education efforts, says 3 out of 4 pedestrian fatalities occur at night.

They remind the public that as days continue to get shorter, it’s especially important in the fall months to put the phone down and watch for pedestrians in the roads. The institute and their partners at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration remind Hoosiers to drive alert, because safe drivers save lives.
