Man sentenced to 86 years in prison for killing Elkhart native Amanda Blackburn

Larry Jo Taylor Jr., the man convicted of murdering Elkhart native Amanda Blackburn, will be in prison for the next 86 years.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office sentenced Taylor on Friday, Oct. 14. Taylor was convicted last month of multiple crimes, including murder, multiple counts of burglary, criminal confinement, and more.

Prosecutor Ryan Mears said, “We hope that today’s resolution provides finality to a very difficult chapter.”

Blackburn was killed in 2015 in her Indianapolis area home while Taylor, Jalen Watson, and Diano Gordon were burglarizing homes. At Blackburn’s home, Taylor shot and killed her.

Watson and Gordon both pled guilty to Burglary and Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Gordon was sentenced to 25 years, with another 5 years of his sentence suspended. Watson was sentenced to 29 years.
