A plan to build a $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant is underway.

Ford Motor Company is planning to build the plan about 100 miles west of Detroit.

It was revealed during Monday morning’s meeting of the Michigan Strategic Fund.

The plant will be built on a site near the junction of Interstates 94 and 69 and will employ around 2500 people.

Press conferences were held by Ford later on Monday to make electric vehicle announcements.

Ford’s director of economic development, Gabby Bruno, said Michigan competed against numerous states and countries to secure the investment.
