The South Bend Common Council has approved tax abatements for the New York-based owners of the Liberty Tower who want to build 90 apartments inside the top floors of the the building.
It’s a nearly $15 million dollar project that also includes meeting rooms, a bar, lounge and venue space for the public to use.
Developers say the apartments should be finished by next summer.
The developers asked for an abatement of $1.3 million dollars over the span of eight years.

  1. Luxury overpriced apartments get a break in not paying properly taxes for 8 years. What about the struggling working class who just got there property taxes increased ? It doesn’t seem like a fair and even system.
