Michigan Attorney General Nessel renews request for MSU to provide remaining documents in Nassar investigation

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has renewed her request for Michigan State University to provide all remaining documents for the investigation of Dr. Larry Nassar.

Nassar is a former USA Gymnastics and MSU doctor who pleaded guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct and admitted to assaulting young women by using his trusted medical position.

The request for remaining documents was sent in a letter on Friday to the MSU Board of Trustees.

A previous request by Nessel was submitted in 2021 by MSU officials who refused to voluntarily waive privilege to thousands of documents including Dr. Nassar.

The initial denial of Nessel’s request was said to be necessary to maintain attorney-client privilege, but with new leadership on the board, an indication of openness to resolve the impasse has been made.
