A woman was taken to the hospital after a shooting at a hotel in Mishawaka.

It happened around 4:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at the Extended Stay America on Main Street near the intersection with Edison Lakes Parkway.

Police arrived on scene and located the victim of a gunshot wound in a hotel room located on the second floor.  The woman is expected to survive.

A man was arrested at the scene, but that was for a warrant out of Elkhart County not related to the shooting.

A child inside the hotel called 911 to report the shooting.

Police spent the morning at the scene talking to people and collecting possible evidence.

There’s no word about what led to the gunfire.
