The suspect who police say stole a woman’s car in Mishawaka, then crashed it in South Bend has been identified.
Julio Enrique Melendez, 37, of South Bend has been charged with Motor Vehicle Theft and for Operating While Intoxicated.
Investigators say Melendez entered the woman’s vehicle, late Tuesday night, May 30, near the intersection of Lincolnway and Main Street, as she was climbing in.
The woman pulled a gun and the two struggled over the weapon.
The woman ended up with a gunshot wound to the hand. Melendez then took off in the vehicle, but was arrested after the crash.

It’s safer to say the male suspect is a criminal, and seriously needs to be punished for these multiple crimes. What horror luck the victim had that evening, where were her protective angels that evening ?

This guy (somebody call ICE) was inside her engagement zone.

(Speculation follows) She probably used her firearm like a magic talisman thinking presentation would provide the spell she wanted. If she had drawn and shot she would likely not have ended up fighting over the weapon, shooting herself and losing her car and we would be one felon fewer in society.
