It’s a step toward new life for the Concord Mall property as the Elkhart Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval to rezone the mall property.
The move, on Monday, June 5, comes after an organization that works with other failing malls proposed changing the main building to a light manufacturing that could bring new jobs, as well as some multifamily housing, to the property.
If the re-zoning plan is approved by the full City Council, construction could begin by the end of the year or in Spring of 2024.
