The trial is set for a Buchanan man accused of drunk driving and killing a Road Department worker last summer.
It happened July 20, 2022, on Red Bud Trail in Oronoko Township.
Road Department worker, William “Mack” Isom, was cutting up a fallen tree in the roadway.
He was allegedly hit and killed by a southbound vehicle, driven Taylor Ryan Johnson, 34.
Now, he’s set to go to trial on Aug. 29 in Berrien County Trial Court at the Niles courthouse. He has a status conference set for Aug. 9.
Leader Publications reports that Johnson is charged with operating a a vehicle while intoxicated and causing death. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison.
