A man was killed in a shooting, early Sunday morning, in South Bend.

Police were called around 4:30 a.m. to the area of Milton and St. Joseph Streets on the report of multiple shots fired. As officers were investigating, they were advised of a possible walk-in shooting victim at Memorial Hospital.

The male victim, identified as 24-year-old Sergio Alvarez, Jr. of South Bend, ultimately died due to his injuries at the hospital.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling this investigation.
