Elkhart teen enters plea agreement after armed robbery from Facebook Marketplace deal

An Elkhart teenager has entered into a plea agreement for an armed robbery charge stemming from a Facebook Marketplace deal.

The Goshen News reports that Matthew Malone, 18, met a man, back in December, at an apartment in New Paris to buy a 2016 Mustang that he’d agreed to pay $35,000 for. Instead, court documents state that when Malone came out of the apartment, he pulled a gun and took the vehicle after threatening the victim and robbing him of his wallet.

Malone is also accused of a series of battery charges against public safety officials at the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center.

He’s agreed to plead guilty to armed robbery, and battery to a public safety official. His sentencing is set for the end of the month.
