A portion of Main Street in Elkhart has been blocked due to demolition of a building.

119 S. Main Street, Elkhart is scheduled for demolition following a structural engineering assessment.

As of Monday morning, Aug. 7, one block of South Main Street between E. Jackson Blvd. and Lexington Ave. as well as the parking lot on the north side of 119 S. Main St. has been fenced off for safety.

Beginning on Tuesday at 8 a.m., equipment staging will begin with demolition beginning Tuesday afternoon. The demolition process is scheduled to go through Friday.
