Southwestern Michigan College has given a name to its new Esports Arena.

The arena has been named the Midwest Energy & Communications Esports Arena after a donation from Midwest Energy & Communications. WSJM reports that the college received a donation of $25,000 for equipment and tournament entry fees for the SMC Esports team.

The arena is in the Barbara Wood Building on the Dowagiac campus, and is a showcase for the information technology program as well as a place providing opportunities for students who love computers and gaming.

SMC formalized its esports program in 2021.
