A defendant in a murder trial was denied a continuance of jury trial.

Alvin Sanders III and Da’Quavion Wiley are accused in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy outside a McKinley Avenue home in May of 2021.

They are scheduled for a joint jury trial in September, but the Goshen News says Sanders’ public defender asked for a continuance due to Sanders’ families intent to raise funds to hire an attorney to defend him.

Attorneys previously agreed to continue from Wiley’s April trial to Sanders’ trial scheduled for September 18, but Sanders’ defense asked for the continuance last week, being denied by the judge who said that parties have known for many months that the trial has been set to go forward in September.
