One person dead after fire in Benton Harbor

One person is dead after a fire in Benton Harbor.

It happened on McAlister Street Oct. 10, a little after 10 p.m..

Firefighters were called to the 700 block on reports of the second floor being engulfed in flames.

Two of the three residents made it out and told crews that their 39-year-old son was still inside.

He was found dead inside from smoke and heat-related injuries in an upstairs bedroom.

The fire department is investigating what caused the fires.
