An arrest made 25 years after a man was shot and killed at a Subway shop in Fort Wayne.
Dan Osborn, the owner of the Subway, was killed at the shop back in 1998. Osborn, 47, was also a confinement officer at the Allen County Jail.
Court documents say Bernard McClaney has been named as the robber who went into the shop and demanded money. A female employee at the Subway gave the money to him and investigators say he them ordered the woman down on the ground and tied her up so he could get away.
Police say when he encountered Osborn in the rear of the shop, he shot him.
McClaney is already in the state prison in Pendleton serving time for another killing. He was convicted in 2013 in the killing of Artie Rittenhouse which also happened in 1998. He’s in the middle of a 55-year stint in the state prison.
He was taken to Allen County Tuesday where he was in court to face charges of felony murder and criminal confinement.
