Hiring in the U.S. is down over 23 percent compared to last year.

That’s according to data from August.

LinkedIn data says that January is the busiest month for hiring, followed by June.

August also tends to have great numbers of entry level hiring, though it appears there is a slowdown in job hiring this time of the year.

Andrew McCaskill, a career expert with LinkedIn, says it is unlikely that there will be a major hiring surge in November or December, though the biggest hiring surge is likely to be in January.
