Kentucky man struck by car, killed on State Road 13 near toll road

A man from Kentucky was killed after being struck by a vehicle on State Road 13 near the toll road bridge.

The collision happened around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies were en route to investigate a crash when they got a second call that a pedestrian had be strick by a vehicle.

On scene, they found the 44-year-old man from Columbia, Kentucky lying in the roadway, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the man was outside of his car trying to get traffic to stop for a crash that was blocking traffic when a 26-yearold South Bend woman driving a pick-up truck failed to stop, then drove into the oncoming lane of traffic, and struck the man.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
