Benton Harbor’s water officially meets state, federal standards for lead

The water in the City of Benton Harbor now officially meets the state and federal standards for lead. That, according to recent testing from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.

The most recent results show 1 part per billion, which is well below the state and federal limit of 15 parts per billion. WSJM reports that this week is also the completion of the galvanized iron service line replacement.

The replacement effort was finished well ahead of the target date.
