The difference between Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Watch

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

As winter weather arrives, you may hear words like “Winter Weather Advisory” and “Winter Storm Watch.”

The National Weather Service Northern Indiana posted a graphic to Twitter Thursday, explaining the differences between common alerts.

With a “Winter Weather Advisory,” you may experience some challenges on the road due to snow or ice.

Under a “Winter Storm Watch,” severe weather is possible, but not guaranteed.

A “Winter Storm Warning” means severe weather is guaranteed, and traveling will be extremely dangerous.
