City of St. Joseph receives grants for Dickinson Park improvements

The City of St. Joseph is receiving grants for improvements at Dickinson Park.

On Tuesday, Governor Whitmer announced $6.4 million dollars in Land and Water Conservation Fund grants for eight different communities, including St. Joe.

WSJM reports that the DNR approved a 260 thousand-dollar grant that will add restrooms and improved parking to the park, near St. Joseph High School.

The state grant is a fifty percent match, so the city will also contribute $260,000 to the project, which could start in 2025.

The city hopes to eventually have the funding to also add a playground to the park.

Meanwhile, The City of Bridgman will receive $150,000, the most of any single community in the state…for restroom improvements at the eastern campground at Weko Beach.
