(Photo supplied/National Weather Service of Northern Indiana)

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from early Monday, Dec. 18 through early Tuesday morning for a portion of the MNC listening area, including the South Bend and Elkhart areas.

A cold front brings rain and snow chances and a big cool down to start the work week. We’ll start seeing some rain turning to snow showers throughout Monday.

Monday will also bring windy conditions with gusts likely exceeding 40 mph at times. Snow totals could range from less than an inch further south to over 2 inches further north, with more likely underneath the heaviest snow bands especially in southwest Michigan. Snow showers move out tonight and we’ll be dry by tomorrow. Skies stay dry until the end of the week with temps warming into the mid 40’s.
