How to properly dispose of Christmas trees in Elkhart, South Bend

There are two ways you can get rid of your Christmas Tree in Elkhart.
Starting Jan. 8 and running through Jan. 19, curbside pickup will be offered for city residents.
In addition, there are four dropoff sites that will be available: the Northside School parking lot off of Bristol Street, the Westside School parking lot off of North Nappanee Street, the Pierre Moran (Pavilion parking lot on Lusher Avenue, and the Riverview Park parking lot at Riverview and Superior.
Be sure to remove all your ornaments and the tree stand.
The City of South Bend is offering free Christmas tree recycling for residents starting Tuesday, Jan. 2 and lasting through the month. Residents can schedule their pickup by submitting an online request on the city’s website or by calling 311.
