US 12 bridge over M-51 in Niles set for demolition

The U-S 12 bridge over M-51 is set to be demolished.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says M-51 will be closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. starting on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Detours for M-51 will be on US-12 and M-60 Business Route.

The $27 million project includes removing the bridges and ramps and replacing the interchange. There will also be new traffic signals, pavement markings, and new signs.

The demolition will take place from Thursday through Sunday.
