Poll: Michiganders want more of the state gas tax to benefit roads

A recent poll suggests most Michiganders want more of the funds raised by the state’s gas tax to go to maintaining the roads.

WSJM reports that a recent episode of the Talking Michigan Transportation podcast revealed poll results stating 82% of residents said all taxes paid should go to maintaining roads and bridges.

Michigan is one of only six states charging a sales tax on gas, and very little of the 6 percent tax funds improvements on the bridges and roads. Roughly $55 million of the more than $1 billion generated by the tax is used for that purpose each year.

Those insurrectionists! How DARE they think that a tax that was sold as a way to fund roads should actually be used to fund roads! That money is desperately needed to fund gender transitions, lavish subsidies for illegals, state unions, and welfare program vote buying.

Those silly peasants act like it’s their money being spent! Don’t they understand that all money belongs to the government, and they graciously allow you to keep some of your paycheck out of the goodness of their heart? That’s why they call tax cuts a “cost”…

Gas taxes are collected to support the road system. Any other use is THEFT by the government.
