The Better Business Bureau is warning of airfare scammers targeting those planning to travel soon.

The BBB Scam Tracker has received several reports of scammers creating fake airline booking sites or customer service numbers to charge for rescheduling fake flights.

They say scammers are creating fake websites, showing unbeatable flight costs that really are too good to be true, as a way to get your credit card information.

Some others are receiving fake cancellation notices for their real flights, telling them to call a provided number to rebook the flight. However, their original flight was not cancelled, and it was only a way for the scammer to get your card information.

The BBB says to do your research when choosing a company to book flights with. Double check flight details before calling customer support, and confirm the URL before you enter personal and payment information.

And, as always, make your online purchases with a credit card, as fraudulent charges on credit cards can usually be disputed.
