An Elkhart woman, Linda Tener, 70, was arrested and charged with murdering her husband in the 70000 block of County Road 9.
The incident occurred on Friday, March 22, a day after Tener’s release from the hospital where she received treatment for mental health issues, as per her son.
Authorities responded to a call around 4:50 a.m. reporting Tener pointing a gun on a nearby porch. She was subdued by a homeowner who wrestled the firearm from her. Tener confessed to shooting her husband, Johnnie Tener, before officers arrived. Police found the victim dead in their home with a gunshot wound to his head.
Tener was taken into custody by Nappanee Police and charged with murder. She was then transported to the Elkhart County Jail.
