Legendary Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne has a new resting place.
Rockne’s surviving family had his casket exhumed from a cemetery in South Bend and had him reburied on the University of Notre Dame campus.
The graves of his wife, son, and grandson were also moved.
Rockne was the head coach on Notre Dame’s football team from 1914 to 1930, leading the Fighting Irish to three national championships.
He is widely credited with building the Notre Dame football program into one of the most prestigious in the country.
Rockne was killed in a plane crash in 1931.
